— Tellwright Systems, Inc. today introduced Murmur, a narrative and threat awareness product that monitors publicly available social media, news, forums and other open sources for signals relevant to public safety. Murmur alerts analysts to threats of violence, planned disruption, emerging incidents and narratives that may lead to them, and sends what it finds into Concord.

Murmur reads more than 180 million public posts and articles a day in 46 languages. Analysts set up watch topics, places and events, and Murmur scores and groups what it finds so that a small team can follow a large event.

“Information about a threat is very often public before the threat is carried out. The problem is volume,” said Neal Sorley, chief technology officer of Tellwright. “Murmur lets an analyst see the few posts that matter among the millions that don’t, while there is still time to act.”

Murmur analyzes only publicly available information. It may not be used to monitor individuals solely for the exercise of rights protected by the First Amendment, and Tellwright’s acceptable use policy prohibits it.

Murmur is available to government agencies and to commercial customers for corporate security, executive protection and brand risk.
